Mochitsuki (Mochi Pounding) Ginza Main Building

Mochitsuki is a traditional event in which steamed glutinous rice is pounded using a mallet and mortar to make mochi.
It is also held to make kagami mochi, a type of rice cake offered as New Year's offerings.
Mochitsuki also brings families and local residents together for collaborative work, deepening bonds.
