Mochitsuki (Mochi Pounding) Okachimachi Store

Mochitsuki is a traditional event in which steamed glutinous rice is pounded using a mallet and mortar to make mochi (rice cakes).
It is also held to make kagami mochi (rice cakes) as offerings for the New Year.
Mochitsuki also brings families and local residents together for collaborative work, deepening bonds.
